Marina Medical endorses and fosters a “culture
of compliance” in all phases of the company’s
operations. Our goal is to obtain for our clients
the full patient care reimbursement to which they
are legally and ethically entitled, and to always
do so in a manner that complies with both the
letter and the spirit of all applicable regulations
and guidelines.
The Compliance and HIPAA Privacy Programs are under the leadership
of the Senior Director for Compliance and Privacy, an experienced
member of senior management. The program has been designed keeping
in mind such guidelines as the “Compliance Program Guidance
for Third-Party Medical Billing Companies” issued by the
Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and
Human Services, relevant HIPAA, CMS guidelines and regulations,
and ACEP information.
Marina Medical’s clients are secure in the knowledge that
the Compliance Program, the Privacy program, the overall culture
of compliance, the Compliance Manual, employee training, and the
company’s Code of Conduct - which follows OIG guidelines
- are in place and followed.
Marina’s coders are specialists in coding for the
complexities of emergency medicine. Under the leadership
of the Director and Assistant Director of Coding,
the full-time coding staff of more than 30 employees
includes MDs, RNs, and CPCs, and every coder is a member of the American
Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
Marina’s coding
program includes regular quality control audits,
coder training, documentation, and coding educational
sessions with physician clients. |
