The most important function of a medical billing service is to collect the payment its doctors have earned. Every client who comes to Marina from another billing company or hospital billing has experienced an increase in cash collections, often dramatically more. The amount we collect for our clients, per patient (“Average Payment per Patient”, or “APP”), is a key metric at Marina.

While medical billing has become increasingly challenging in recent years, Marina understands the effort and staffing it takes to attain consistently excellent results. These results can’t be achieved without the necessary technological resources and staff. By investing extensively in these essentials, Marina goes far beyond the all-too-common “open the mail, pull out the checks, and write off the difference” medical billing philosophy. Marina consistently collects substantially more for its clients each month by anticipating what payers require and providing it “up front.” Additionally, we’re more thorough and more consistent with our clients’ claims, and we employ more rigorous management review, all within a strict culture of compliance.

We’re personally accountable for results, and we don’t make excuses. Every key person at Marina – other than those in the coding department, who are paid differently - receives a major portion of their compensation from monthly performance bonuses tied to exceeding each client’s cash collections Benchmark – if they fail to exceed the Benchmark then their bonus that month is $0. In this way we directly align the interests of every person at Marina with the interests of our clients.
